This has been my favorite quote so far - I keep going through it in my mind. I love it so much.
"The way in which a man accepts his fate and all the suffering it entails, the way in which he takes of his cross, gives him ample opportunity, even under the most difficult circumstances, to add a deeper meaning to his life." Viktor E. Frankel
It's fascinating to hear about the Concentration Camp, just how ugly everything was, and to hear him talking about the education he and others received there about how to live in that awful place. To think about such a starkly awful experience, it makes it powerful to think about the possibility of what a change of attitude can do in my life. Looking for ways to be grateful, actively thinking about ways to do things better, to better my circumstances the best I can.
What a great quote! Check out this video clipped I watched today. It is a TED speech that goes along pretty well with what Liz what posting on.

Jacob, I just saw this link and watched the video. I REALLY liked it. I've been thinking a lot about how I and my children and Jake cope with uncomfortable emotions and challenges - it's very interesting to observe the healthy and unhealthy ways in which we cope with the struggles that are a natural part of life.
ReplyDeleteI know from personal experience what she says is true - that if we try to numb or pretend when we are experiencing trials or uncomfortable feelings, we only come out with misery. If we can embrace our circumstances and come before God with humility, but also with joy and optimism, with hope that we are okay and that God will help us, we will come out with greater happiness and energy to move forward. I think it's remarkable.
Thanks for sharing this video - I enjoyed watching it.
